NBA:
Lakers F Odom listed as day to day (AP)
Tests showed Lamar Odom's right knee injury is not serious, and the Los Angeles Lakers forward is day to day. Odom, injured late in the second quarter of Tuesday night's 116-105 loss to New Orleans, was examined by team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo on Wednesday. An MRI revealed a bone bruise in the knee.
Hornets end Lakers' 15-game home streak (AP)

Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant, right, points as he talks with with teammate Sasha Vujacic, left, of Slovenia during the second half of an NBA basketball against the New Orleans Hornets game in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009. The Hornets won 116-105.

Somebody had to play defense in Tuesday night's Hornets-Lakers game. The Hornets finally did in the fourth quarter, and it proved decisive. David West scored 15 of his 40 points in the final period to outscore Los Angeles by himself, and New Orleans beat Los Angeles 116-105 to snap the Lakers' 15-game home winning streak.

'Melo out 3 weeks with broken hand (AP)

Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony grimaces as he grabs his right hand after he was injured on a play against Indiana Pacers center Jeff Foster during the third quarter of the Nuggets' 135-115 victory in an NBA basketball game in Denver on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009. Nuggets officials confirmed on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, that Anthony's right hand was broken on the play.

Carmelo Anthony didn't care for the color of the new removable splint he was sporting on his broken right hand, preferring it to be Denver Nuggets blue over bright red. Then again, a splint of any color sure beats surgery. The Nuggets All-Star guard will miss at least three weeks after breaking a bone in his shooting hand in a victory over the Indiana Pacers on Monday night.

Bobcats surprise stumbling Celtics in OT (AP)

Charlotte Bobcats guard D.J. Augustin (14) passes the ball around Boston Celtics guard Paul Pierce (34) during the first half of the Bobcats' 114-106 overtime win in an NBA basketball game in Charlotte, N.C., Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009.

After 19 straight wins and an NBA record 27-2 start, the Boston Celtics have lost that swagger. The lockdown defense and the poise are missing, too, as teams line up to get a shot at the defending champions. On Tuesday, it was the lowly Charlotte Bobcats, as Raymond Felton scored 25 points and rookie D.J.

Grizzlies waive F Darius Miles (AP)
The Memphis Grizzlies waived forward Darius Miles, who was trying to make a comeback after a two-year absence following knee surgery. Miles was cut by the Boston Celtics in the preseason and signed with Memphis on Dec. 13. The 27-year-old also served a 10-game league suspension after his signing for violating the league's drug policy.
Clippers make second trade in 3 days (AP)
The injury-riddled Los Angeles Clippers made their second trade in three days Wednesday, acquiring seldom-used Hassan Adams and cash from the Toronto Raptors for a future conditional second-round draft pick. Adams, who grew up in nearby Inglewood and played his college ball at Arizona, averaged 0.9 points and 0.6 rebounds in 12 games for the Raptors this season.
Dirk rallies Mavs over Clippers 107-102 (AP)

Los Angeles Clippers forward Al Thornton (12) shoots over Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard in the second half of an NBA basketball game in Dallas, Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009. The Mavericks won 107-102.

Dirk Nowitzki made the game-saving plays on both ends of the court for the Dallas Mavericks. That was the easy part for the star forward. Just don't ask the frustrated Nowitzki to explain how the Mavericks even got into the position that his blocked shot and go-ahead jumper were needed in the final minute against the short-handed and hurting Los Angeles Clippers.

Durant, Green lift Thunder over Knicks (AP)

New York Knicks forward David Lee, left, goes up for a shot in front of Oklahoma City Thunder forward Joe Smith, right, in the second quarter of an NBA basketball game in Oklahoma City, Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009.

What appeared to be a lopsided victory turned into a nail-biter, but the Oklahoma City Thunder didn't complain. Wins have been rare this season for the Thunder, so they wanted to celebrate after holding off the New York Knicks 107-99 on Tuesday night -- after nearly blowing a 23-point, second-half lead.
